Business Skills & Philosophy
As a senior attorney at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and former General Counsel for a real estate investment company, George understands the complex legal issues that organizations are faced with on a daily basis and the challenges of leading and managing lawyers to practical solutions. In the private sector, he has worked with and engaged some of the best law firms in the country and been a consumer of legal services. As a business person himself, George understands the challenges that our clients face regarding business formation and growth, day-to-day contract negotiations and regulatory matters and business disputes - whether nuisance lawsuits or "bet the company" litigation. We will always keep you and your company's best interests in mind and provide cost-efficient legal solutions.
As an Eagle Scout, George takes to heart the Boy Scout Motto - Be Prepared. Preparation is the key to success in every endeavor. Understanding the legal issues and the client's needs at the beginning of an engagement leads to greater clarity and faster and better solutions.
As a Marine, George does not shy away from a fight and lives by the Marine Corps Motto "Semper Fidelis" (i.e., "Always Faithful"). Faithful to clients' needs, to justice, to fair play and the honorable and fair resolution of disputes. George also subscribes to the Marine Corps' unofficial motto "No better friend and no worse enemy." George believes in collegiality with opponents whenever possible, but zealous advocacy on behalf of his clients always.
Our founding attorney - George Koenig - has an extensive legal background in private practice, as a government lawyer and as a General Counsel. Since 1994, Mr. Koenig has protected business clients' interests through general business counsel, government relations, white collar criminal defense and business litigation. George has litigated and tried cases in state and Federal Court, negotiated mergers and acquisitions, represented clients before the Department of Justice, other Federal Departments and agencies and the U.S. Congress.
George formerly practiced as a litigator and trial lawyer at Atlanta's Long Weinberg Ansely & Wheeler, Dennis Corry & Porter and Alston & Bird. George also has extensive Washington, DC experience where he served as senior attorney with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, practiced again with Alston & Bird, was General Counsel to LandBridge Equity (a real estate investment company) and Senior Counsel to Kemp Partners - a strategic consulting firm founded by former Congressman, Cabinet Secretary and Vice Presidential Candidate, Jack Kemp. George knows his way around a court room, a corporate boardroom, the Halls of Congress or the streets of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. This broad and diverse experience gives him the skills and confidence to handle your business needs. George prides himself in offering individualized attention and personalized legal solutions for his clients.
